An Comaraich - The Sanctuary

An Comaraich is a lovely 3 bedroom detached home with an amazing view of Loch Duich.
Perfect for your holiday visit to the Scottish Highlands.
Situated in the picturesque village of Inverinate, this home has pretty much everything you need to enjoy your time in this area of natural beauty whilst still having the comforts of the 21st century on hand.

Sleeps 6 so it can easily cater for families or a group of friends staying.

It has a large living area, a well stocked kitchen, 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and a private secluded garden and patio. Pets are welcome.
There's a lot of modern tech included alongside a classic style. It's quirky in places, it has a sense of humour in other places. It's supposed to be a relaxing place to stay.

So ... Read on to find out more about An Comaraich, then read the reviews, and look at those pictures in "the View" section ... and hopefully you'll come to a decision.

The perfect base for your holiday

The house is in a very central location for all the wonderful attractions around here. It's just off the A87 (what we call "the main road") so no country tracks to negotiate. It's also 100 yards from the local filling station (which also has a shop) .. the next one is 8 miles away. That's very useful.
You can head out in any direction in the morning to explore somewhere new and still get back home in time to enjoy the house.

    • 5 Sisters of Kintail mountain range on your doorstep
    • Isle of Skye is 20 mins north - Eileen Donan Castle is 5 mins away
    • Portree in 1 hour 30 mins
    • Loch Ness is less than an hour away - 20 mins later and you're in Inverness
    • Fort William and Glencoe in 2 hours
    • Glenelg Brochs and Glenelg Car Ferry 30 mins away - Great way to reach the Isle of Skye
    • Applecross and NC500 route in just over an hour

The 21st century is alive and well here

Some guests may long for the wilderness but many others will still want to be connected to the outside world.
You should still be able to check in with all of your favourite sites and apps ... or totally ignore them. It is, after all, your holiday.
The broadband speed should be enough for everyone to be online at once.
If you can't resist the call of the internet then we have you covered.

    • High-speed Broadband for the whole family
    • 4K TV with Sky TV, Netflix and Amazon Prime
    • Philips Hue lighting and Alexa. Talk to the lights to make them change colour
    • Bose Bluetooth speaker for music
    • Xbox One in both living room and "kids" room with plenty of games
    • Amazon ipad in living room
    • Dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer

    A Home From Home

    Comfortable Living room

You won't be all crammed into a little space.
There's plenty of room to stretch out and relax if you've been walking the hills or sightseeing on foot.
2 large comfy sofas with plenty of cushions, 2 rocking chairs by the window.
I've already mentioned the view ... but whomever gets the rocking chair seat by the window won't be giving it up without a fight.
The whole place is set up like a family home and not a show-house. You're supposed to relax here. I've tried to supply pretty much everything I can think of to make your stay comfortable and entertaining. Well, It's not got everything-everything (oh how is wish ...) but it's got enough.

A dining table that expands to seat 6 people

Philips Hue lighting throughout. You can select a colour scheme using the house pad or the wall remotes ... even ask Alexa to do it for you. It helps to create a wonderful and distinct atmosphere for your relaxation ... oh, and the kids love playing with them.
A Samsung Frame TV (that shows artwork when it's not being a TV) with Netflix, Prime and a Sky TV package installed. There's an Xbox One with plenty of games for the "adult kids" out there. Board games, jigsaws, some nice books, some silly books, cards.
Scattered around the house are a few quirky items ... you'll see when you get here so I won't spoil the surprise.

A Bose speaker for music, an acoustic guitar.  ... there's even a lava lamp.

A fully functioning kitchen for your use.

I leave a lot of ingredients for you to use, sometimes the guests leave ingredients too. Anyway, there's quite a lot of them.
There's pasta, a selection of rice, spices, tinned food, some frozen foods and veg.
There's also pots and pans of all sizes, plates, cutlery, cups, kettle, tea, teapot, coffee, coffee plunger thing, toaster, glasses, knifes.
    A fridge, a freezer and a dishwasher.
(Manual washing up still available for those who wish to keep their carbon footprint down)
Washing machine and tumble dryer too.

I don't have everything but there's always more than enough for you to make yourself something to eat ... or add to your own cooking.
I understand that most guests plan to bring their own food for their trip and don't overuse the supplies but it's nice to know that you don't have to bring everything with you.

You can easily make family meals if you're not planning on eating out. There is, of course, a dining table that can seat 6 but enough trays are available if you want to eat off your lap.

    3 Bedrooms

2 rooms with double beds and another room with 2 single beds in (hopefully) nicely decorated condition.
There's hairdryers in each room, 2 rooms have dressing tables and large mirrors, 1 room even has a tub chair. Plenty of room to hang or store your clothes. One of the double bedrooms has that view, which is a great way to start the day, but the other room is a little bigger. I'm not an interior designer but they're nice enough ... I hope.
I've called the bedroom with the 2 single beds "The Kids Room". This room has a Samsung TV and an Xbox One (no adult games are installed on it). Parents can choose to let the children play whilst they relax in the living room ... or not. It's still able to sleep 2 adults as the decor isn't aimed at children.
Each room has Philips Hue lighting and wall remotes ... so you can set the light just how you want it. Don't worry, everything works in "manual mode".

Bathroom, Patio and private secluded garden

There's a bathroom with a combined bath/shower, a sink and a toilet. I'm sorry but it's the only one. I'd love all the bedrooms to be en-suite but it's not that type of house ... I wish it was ... but it works fine.

There's a nice patio area with tables and seating and a private secluded garden surrounding the property for your use. A couple of loungers underneath a tree and a sheltered smoking area for those of you that can't kick the habit.

Sit outside and enjoy the sunset

(if the midges allow it and it's not raining ... don't say you weren't warned)

Book now ... You won't regret it
